eqvis adı, ingilizce atlıspor görsellerinin kısaltmasından türetilmiş olmakla birlikte, Roma imparatorluğu döneminde "eqves" ile aynı şekilde kullanılmış bir kelimedir. EQVES (eques) = süvari, şövalye. Roma'da imparatorun altında senatörlerden sonra gelen elit grup. Aşağıdaki ingilizce metinde özetle yukarıdaki sikkenin gençlik ve atlıların prensi olan Konstantini temsil eden kabartmaya sahip olduğu ve üzerindeki EQVIS'in sıradışı olarak EQVES yani atlı, şövalye yerine kullanıldığı anlatılmaktadır.
